Update - I had a closer look this morning and parts of the ceiling sound hollow when knocked, part of the ceiling also moves when pressed. It all seems indicative to me that the bonding has failed or the new skim has not sealed to the old artex properly?

Sorry, I meant the reason for the pressure now being slightly higher at 1.8 bar when cold. As you mention, probably just over pressured when refilling. Thanks for your help.

Cheers mate - It is definitely the valve, I'm semi-confident with DIY but tend to leave plumbing alone apart from the basics. I'll probably get some quotes for a call out if it will involve draining the system etc.
