How to plumb in a type 22 radiator for an old type 11?

Is it possible to sweat off the elbow? It will be full of water as all the drain cocks are on the rad valves and the elbow is beneath them, so still full. I guess I could cut a slot in it to drain...

How to plumb in a type 22 radiator for an old type 11?

I think that there is just enough to cut elbow off and replace. You'd be right on the plaster though. I guess plaster doesn't burn... Just been looking at Screwfix's range of 10mm valves - not that many these days.

How to plumb in a type 22 radiator for an old type 11?

Thanks. If I were to remake, would I have to punch holes in the plasterboard and extend from that side? Or could it be all done from this side? 40 mm is a lot of bending...

How to plumb in a type 22 radiator for an old type 11?

Hi. I'm thinking of doubling up an old radiator. Thing is the inlet and outlet pipes as the radiator will stand off the wall by double the current amount. I have 10 mm microbore copper. Now it's standing off ~40 mm and I need to go to 83 mm. Also the radiator can be dropped by 50 mm to fit in...

Why should a Digistat sometimes only call for heat for 40 seconds?

@coopersim No there aren't, but worth re-considering. Background is that all I've done is replace the old control:- with the new Digistat as it has more flexible heating programs. The old one worked perfectly thermally wise with a ~1.5 degree hysteresis. I'm coming around to the notion...

Why should a Digistat sometimes only call for heat for 40 seconds?

Partial solution:- Set fuel type: heat pump (default: gas) Set flow rate: slow (default: fast) Fingers crossed...

Why should a Digistat sometimes only call for heat for 40 seconds?

@old duffer Okay, thanks. But you are talking about the boiler. Mine's a Glow Worm 30FF - 9kW (brilliant even after 26 years running). But I'm talking about the room control. Are you suggesting that my Digistat is incompatible with such an oldie? I can't see it myself. The thermal...

Why should a Digistat sometimes only call for heat for 40 seconds?

Not really the detail I was hoping for  That's called hysteresis in control systems nomenclature. No boiler can change my room temperature by 0.5 degrees centigrade within 40 seconds. Does anyone have any more details why they think it can? Is it an attempt at a PID controller? And...

Why should a Digistat sometimes only call for heat for 40 seconds?

Hiya. I have one of these:- It's brand new. Can anyone explain why it should call for heat for only 40 secondsish every hour or so? I can't see any purpose for operating the boiler for so short a time. That just seems like it's ruining the boiler as it clearly can't heat anything in < 1...

L-shaped shed - is it possible?

Yeh, hello. I've been high for a few days o_O Sorry. Some ideas here... But yes, your overall points 1-4 are correct. Everything depends on your budget for this thing. You could build your wooden structure directly onto the slab, of course. For a bit more money, look at typical...

L-shaped shed - is it possible?

It's a shed and you can make your own decisions, but the standard safety factor for live (removable) load is 1.6. So you actually have to cater for at least 3200 kg. That's one and a half Defender 90s. Plus you'll probably use engine hoists, trolleys or jacks? Those things create punching...

L-shaped shed - is it possible?

I only suggested that ridge arrangement as it keeps the roof spans the shortest. If height is a problem, you could rotate the ridge through 90 degrees so that the falls went at right angles to how I drew them. That means though that the roof structure would have to be 4.4 times as strong, or...

L-shaped shed - is it possible?

Lastly, this is what you can do with (ply)wood in an even harsher environment

L-shaped shed - is it possible?

Or, you could go Mad Max. 6m ~ 20'. Assuming access, you could buy a used 20 foot shipping container. Haven't looked up the pricing, but times are hard and a deal may be possible. It does mean that there will be no structural issues as long as you stick it on level ground. Some type 1 can...
