What kind of sealant would you use around the drain pipe edges for a water proof seal?

I am installing ducting for my cookerhood and would like to know the best way for making the hole for the vent outlet. Also what is the correct way of sealing the vent so no water enters the wall cavity. I have heard its best to use rigid ducting is this true?

Just got a reply from Baumatic. The appliance requires a 3amp fuse spur for the electrical connection. The appliance is double insulated so further grounding is not required.
