Telford Tempest unvented cylinder resonance/vibration noise

That immersion looks to be wired to a three pin plug which is a no no if drawing 3kws. Immersions should have a 20 amp DP switch to them normally but are only there for back up if the boiler fails. You said it was wired to solar somehow but still think it shouldn't be on a plug. I'm no sparky...

Telford Tempest unvented cylinder resonance/vibration noise

If cylinder fitted within last year then by pass not necessary as a different coil is now used on the verticals. The cylinder looks like it's a single coil and I presume is run by the boiler. It could well be circulation pump is running continually but I would of thought the other plumber would...

Telford Tempest unvented cylinder resonance/vibration noise

If everything off then it's a mind Boggle. As for immersion and solar connected to it I really wouldn't know. Solar wouldn't run during the night though. The immersion has its own stat inside so adjusting the one on the cylinder only adjust what temp the boiler heats it too.

Telford Tempest unvented cylinder resonance/vibration noise

If everything is off i.e.:- hot water heat up and heating then the problem is not with the cylinder or heating system. If it does it on hot water only then it'll be the cylinder. This can be cured by fitting a gatevalve between the flow and return pipes by the cylinder ( and only on cylinder...

    Unvented Hot Water G3 discharge

Not sure who paid in then end as being sorted by housing association / insurances. I had a call back from NHBC technical today and the guy said yes it is ok for the stack to be plastic. When I asked that the building was put up before 2008 when the Reg came in he said it was still fine as...

    Unvented Hot Water G3 discharge

Saw this today, this is on the fifth floor of a block of flats and that's picking up all kinds of waste. I'm seeing a lot of Thermalstore units being replaced with Unvented. The stack is therefore approx 10 year old plastic pipe. The installer looks at how he installs it via NHBC and G3. He...

    Unvented Hot Water G3 discharge

This is my point that the water isnt contained if left for a long period as i have seen plastic stack go like an S and break. Can you imagine the mess when in a block of flats where it is also serving toilet waste. The stipulation of the pipe coming off the stack feeding just the unvented...

    Unvented Hot Water G3 discharge

That's all part of the immersion. The issue here is the temperature of water going to a standard plastic stack. It should take the discharge without an issue like metal pipework. In my experience it doesn't hold up in the few cases this has happened. My point is it's not able to take a...

    Unvented Hot Water G3 discharge

Let's not get away from the issue. The discharge should handle the T&P discharge. The stats currently used as I can only guess the reason being that they are a stat and the overstat/safety is built in. The older immersions that were used and are still available with some manufacturers have a...

    Unvented Hot Water G3 discharge

Because being side entry at the bottom of the cylinder the T&P is at the top. Top of cylinder will get hotter because of Stratisication/heat rising.

    Unvented Hot Water G3 discharge

It turned out to be stats overheating on the immersions. So yes problem solved. If this happened before 2008 then the discharge would of been metal and not an issue. As it's after and approved then sadly it's a problem that is going to happen more and more . Stats fail I'm afraid and being...

    Unvented Hot Water G3 discharge

I feel NHBC obviously have the same attitude, it shouldn't go but it's there in case it's needed. So therefore should do the job it's intended for. I solely work on Hot water cylinders and for a cylinder company so unfortunately it does happen.

    Unvented Hot Water G3 discharge

I see daily now more and more installs approved by NHBC where the discharge goes to plastic stipulated by NHBC to be polypropylene and then to a standard plastic soil stack. Sadly I have now seen on numerous occasions when the T&P reliefs at 90-95 degrees the Hepvo trap and polypropylene pipe...

    telford tempest

Your issue is with the immersions and not the cylinder being a Telford product. If you are in a hard water area then you will need a Titanium immersion. That will last longer than an incoloy immersion but costs twice as much.

Horizontal Unvented Hot water cylinder or 2 smaller?

Horizontals have an inherent issue of stratification no matter what the quality.
