Will this be ok to use over normal household paint though? It won't effect the paint in anyway?

Hi I recently painted a toybox for my daughter. It's a white melamine chest which I treated with the appropriate undercoat and painted, I painted it in a couple of colours, both Matt. I would like to varnish it, then put a few stickers on it and make it more personal and then varnish again...
