Thanks Bunnyman, If you are sure I will tell him to do that then... He did say he was wondering about diverter valve as the flow pipe was getting warm when hot tap was running... But why does the bypass open even though new??? I presume it is meant to?? Do I need to get him to fit new one...

I forgot to add that he also closed of all rads and the valves below boiler and connected two hoses to the drain off points in the kitchen and left the rad open in the bathroom upstairs... He then connected one hose to my outside tap and the other in the drain... Nothing but cleanish water...
