Hi,
I always found that the neighbour's cats just love gravel.
They do not like stone chippings.
Gravel is smooth and I guess confy on the bum.
Chippings are rough and pointed...
They also just love wood chippings.
Yes - shame about the total hang-up about carrying of a knife.
I used to carry a small pocket knife about two inches long.
I need it since my hands are not strong enough to deal with modern packaging like the plastic that is round magazines and sweets and similar.
Now I am told I have no...
Hi,
I know it may sound gross to some, but the best thing both me and the wife has found is pee.
Last thing at night piddle on your hands, wait for it to dry, and go to bed.
It's what bush babies use on their ears!!

Hi,
I always thought that creosote was banned for amateur use some years ago, and just found this

Hi,
Well, MY valve is located beside the hot water cylinder just in front of the wiring centre. It is the motorised three-way valve that directs the boiler to either central heating or hot water and if you have one it is at the tee of three 28mm pipes. The valve has a switch inside that...
HI,
sounds similar to a problem I had a few months back. Everything looked OK except the boiler would not fire up.
It turned out to be the three-way valve not moving far enough to operate the microswitch which completes the circuit to the boiler.
I found it by accident by fiddling with it...
Hi,
I have a young neighbour who wants to become a plumber now that he has left school.
Basic question is, can anyone suggest a pathway from where he is now to becoming a plumber? At present he feels that he want to be self-employed.
Any recommendations re training establishments would also...
I use an aerosol can of Damp Start. It is ether based and if you squirt it straight into the carb most petrol engines start easily.
Can't fault the other guy's comments. It's just that year after year I just don't get round to putting the mower away "properly".
Hi,
Drainage is as important if not more so than shade. I understand that pH is also important as is soil compaction and fertility.
The first thing to do is to kill off the moss with a proprietary moss-killer, and then to rake out the dead stuff. As far as I remember reading, moss produces...
Install a radio thermostat. Then you can put it in whichever room you fancy.
I fitted one for a similar problem, and now we have it in whichever room we are in. This way we control the temperature where we are rather than the temperature in an empty room.
They are very easy to fit and not...
Hi,
Privet is a very hard plant.
You should cut it back MORE than you need, and next spring it will sprout like crazy. You can then trim the soft growth back to where it needs to be.
If you don't cut it back hard enough then the thick cut ends will always be visible.
Some years ago I needed...
I always like to use both hands if only for the reason that it means BOTH my hands are ABOVE the blades, and they stay there until those sharp things have stopped rotating!
