Anyone got any opinion on this? I'm assuming adhesive should be used.

    Boxing in pipework

Hi, I plan to box in some radiator & water pipes & then tile over the boxing in my downstairs cloakroom. I previously just had some boxing which was painted & made of plywood. I've had to replace the boxing usin the same plywood as before. My question is, should I stick the tiles to the...

    Radiator tails

OK will do that in future. I spoke to the person I bought the rad off & he said to use locktight 45. I'm going to take the rad into the shop & he is going to do it for me to save me having to buy some :) I'll get him to swap the tails at the same time & if it still leaks it should prove if its...

    Radiator tails

Also is there a way of telling whether the rad or the rad tail is the bad item out of the two?? I'm assuming the only way is to change one at a time, but that is a right pain :-( I might see if the shop that sold me the rad has a pressure testing kit.

    Radiator tails

I have a similar problem. I wouldn't say the joint is slack, but each time I fit it, it has a trickle leak. I have tried PTFE tape (10 turns) and Fernox LX - neither of which have been successful. I have a Thames towel rail. Could it be that the thread in the towel rail is bad? Or that the...

New Chrome Towel Rail - rust ?

I just recieved a new chrome 400 x 600 towel rail. I was told it was a Thames Putnet, but it seems that its actually a Thames Henley. Anyway I assume they are the same. After removing it from the packaging there seems to be a yellowy/orange substance around the top valve threads. I'm...

    Thin plug?

I had a look online and the only stockists I can see are rscomponents who have discontinued them. They suggested these. Any comments on whether these would be suitable.

    Thin plug?

Hi, I need to plug a light in behind a bed. Can you get thinner plugs than the standard. So basically something like this http://www.screwfix.com/prods/17967/Electrical-Supplies/Plug-Fuses/White-Plug-13A which isn't as deep so I can get the bed closer to the wall. Cheers.

    MFI White gloss door needed

Well I have some 700 length doors which I can certainly cut the end off, but I was hoping to get a similar door so that I could have a fake door next to the rest. If I have to cut the end the best I can really hope for is a recessed in fill.

    MFI White gloss door needed

So I still haven't managed to get an appropriate cupboard. Its actually 695 in length. Ikea do one which is 700 but its just to long :-( If anyone has any ideas on where I could get a white gloss cupboard door 695 in length I would really appreciate it.

    MFI White gloss door needed

It looks like maurice lay & magnet only do kitchens. I'm after some bathroom cabinets which seem to be shorter than their kitchen equivalents. Thanks anyway.

What should I do with this ceiling??

Hi, I have what looks like popped tape in the celing in one of my bedrooms (see pictures below). Also seems to have been repaired badly in the past in places. Should I get an artexer to re-artex the ceiling or does it need to other attention :? Thanks.

Smoke Alarm - swap like for like?

What I was trying to work out was why SF was more expensive than other places like B&Q. I believe its because they are selling a Photoelectric alarm whereas B&Q sell an Ionisation one http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav/nav.jsp?isSearch=true&fh_search=mians+smoke+alarm&selected=products&x=0&y=0...

Smoke Alarm - swap like for like?

Thanks for the confirmation. I would like to replace the alarm as its discoloured and we are re-painting the ceiling. If I just need a mains one I'll look in B&Q later today. My local Homebase didn't have any & the one in SF is relatively expensive.
