Have now had the chance to look at the light fixture in the kitchen, to find I have no voltage between live and neutral, but have 240v between live and earth, and neutral and earth. I thinking it's time to call somebody out, any recommendations for an electrician in the south beds area?

So am I specifically looking for a broken neutral, and if I can’t find any at the lighting fixtures, what should my next step be? Russ

Seems I am getting some voltage between Neutral and earth about 40 volts ac, will try with the other fixtures! Cheers

Ok, I've manged to test the dinning room light fixture, and my reading are 205v between live and neutral, and 240v between live and earth, just need to test the others! Thanks again

Cheers for the info, will try first thing when light, and post my findings. PS I couldn’t find any loose wiring at the fixtures or switches!
