Thanks for that yeah it does blow hot air, just not cold

When i switch my blowers/air con on or off i get a knocking noise for about 5 seconds and then it stops. My air con does not blow cold air and must be something to do with this noise. Does anyone know what the problem is and how much it is likely to cost? Would Appreciate anyones help...
