hi
built a gazebo/shed and now the warmer weathers coming, i want to spend a bit of time protecting it properly.
its been built with the weatherproof beams/decking/shiplap (cant remember the name but it turns it a bit green for starters) but not sure how to protect it further.
the roof is...
thanks, i actually thought id gen up on it this morning so was reading google links on basic electrics, ill have a look at those links too. appreciated.
from the CU in the house. we're well stocked up on CU's :D
ok, i didnt know that.
oh we know that now :) he was a sparky in the...
ok thanks, told you i didnt know much, its all greek to me :-)
its done that way due to existing cables really. the house used to have the CU in garage, going to some ancient rusty old fusebox in a greenhouse that had a light and a socket. when we had house rewired and knocked down shed and...
not sure what you mean, my limited leccy knowledge suggests to me that the wiring to a light switch is to be used to switch lights on? thats not sarcasm btw, i genuinely dont know what other purpose they could have.
i have a consumer unit in garage, this feeds garage power/lighting on one...
hi
ive attached two pics which show the actual switch and the bumph with it. out of the 3 choices of wiring, id prefer the 'power mode', so that the neon is lit only when theres power to the unit, whether its switched on or not. more of a reminder to me that ive left the power on to outside...
ive spoken to the distributors (longlifelamps) who didnt fill me with much confidence. i mentioned electricians were telling me it was unsafe but they seemed to be of the opinion that as there were no touching metal parts it was safe. i also mentioned that it showed an earth on the packaging...
good job i asked then :-) altho its a shame as theyre lovely looking lights, cant find any that we like as much. just to make sure im not being an idiot heres a couple of pics, one showing the fitting and one the limited paperwork included. the paperwork shows just 2 wires in the cable, no...

hi
been sorting out my external electrics, got the socket sorted with 2.5 FTE, and also 1.5mm FTE for lighting to a waterproof switch and then onto 2 external lights at each end of a gazebo.
the lamps i ordered are stainless steel but now ive opened them up there doesnt seem to be an earth...
no, shes tried that and the sockets fine. shes on the verge of buying a new one so ive told her to at least try the capacitor fix, nothing to lose.
thanks
my daughter has just rang me to ask how i fixed it as her washer has just packed up. its a hotpoint whirlpool AWO/R 4205. doesnt have the same problem, she says its not showing any power going to it, no lights or anything, yet theyve checked the fuse, taken front off and cleaned filter.
could...
well im pleased to report another successful result to the borked capacitor problem. youtubed how to get to circuit board and finally managed to solder a new one on the board and hey presto, seems to have worked.
never soldered before, and had problems. thought id use it as an excuse to buy...
ive built myself this in my garden......
ive got some disabled electrics to it from an old greenhouse that used to be there so i can wire in a weatherproof socket, but im thinking id also like to get some lighting to it for late barbies/ social evenings etc. dont mind if the lighting is fed...
