Hi guys thought of trying something else: increasing the water flow in the shower by simply turning on the tap more...it worked! Hopefully will stay that way when I have a shower. Thanks for all the suggestions.

It's 10 years old. There is no issue with all the taps in the house btw.

Thanks oldbuffer. I've done that but there's no water passing through the pipes at all. As I said before, initially I could hear something though it didn't really sound like water either. I've done this in the past successfully so don't know why it's suddenly decided by to work.
