PVCU window not locking - adjustment advice needed

Thanks for the help Is the window sitting straight in the opening? I think so. Even look all around the seals when closed with no obvious gap or misalignment. Does the lock work correctly when the window is open? Yes. Both the end bolts move in and out when the handle is closed. The centre...

PVCU window not locking - adjustment advice needed

Hello, I've just moved into a house with a conservatory. One of the windows that opens outwards from the bottom (hinges on both left and right side) does not lock properly. I've taken a picture of the inside catches, as I have no idea how to adjust them so the handle will lock. It looks an old...

floor lacquer - 3 coats, when to denib?

My first ever attempt, so first coat was thin, as worried about leaving thicker spots and puddles. Ended up stretching it a bit thin in parts. Got better with next coats and used almost all of it up. It did look better with subsequent coats, but now I realise that it’s crucial to be spot on and...

floor lacquer - 3 coats, when to denib?

Hi Johnny. I did use a third of the traffic and hardener for my first coat and had a bit left over. maybe I applied it a little thinly, but didn't want to leave those white patches which look like there's too much on. Should it be rolled to clear, or left a little cloudy? Left a few marks in...

floor lacquer - 3 coats, when to denib?

Just out of interest, did you pour your finish onto the surface or roller try/scuttle bucket? The videos show both. I figure pouring is easier is easier for shaking a container to mix and no dripping excess.

floor lacquer - 3 coats, when to denib?

So Johnny, 2 straight coats, denib and then the third? Or leave it at 2 and chuck the almost third coat into the bin?

floor lacquer - 3 coats, when to denib?

What do you mean by over heating? I've got the heating down low and it's only on a few hrs in the day. It's mostly cool? Do you think 2 thicker coats of Traffic are better than 3 thin? Won't the floor take a bit less each coat? I've got 5 litres, Bona say 8-10m per l, so I'm thinking mix 17m...

floor lacquer - 3 coats, when to denib?

Hi everyone, I've just put down a coat of Bona natural primer (water based) over my newly sanded floor and have calculated that I have enough Bona Traffic HD for 3 coats (very close, but I'm hoping it takes a tiny bit less with successive coats.) I was originally planning 2 coats and denibing...

    Bona trafiic hd - DIY-able? advice/opinions

Thanks for the reply. Was beginning to think no one was out there! I've just been asked to look at Tarffic Naturale, which is very similar to Traffic HD, but achieves a similar natural, raw wood and no darkening or oranging of colour, just like the one yo were looking for. Did you comes across...

    Bona trafiic hd - DIY-able? advice/opinions

Hi, I've had my oak parquet floor sanded and it's ready for a finish. I want something hard wearing, matt and won't darken/change the colour I now have (very light, almost white/beige oak) and keep as natural a look as possible. Had a look around and am interested in Bona Natural primer (keeps...

orbital floor sander hire in midlands - help needed

Thanks foxhole, but that's one of the only two I have found sound far. Is £170 per day, excluding vat, the going rate? Just need to know, so I can compare it to anything else should it turn up. I thought that was a bit on the steep side, and if it were the norm, then maybe hiring someone may be...

orbital floor sander hire in midlands - help needed

Spot on foxhole. Floor almost finished, but stumbled at the sanding hurdle. I'll probably need an orbital for the main area, an edger and a dust control unit. I think the trio has dust control built on, but the flexisand hasn't. Not sure if the edger needs to be orbital, but the flexisand has a...

orbital floor sander hire in midlands - help needed

Hello, I'm new to this forum, but in need of some help. I have almost finished fitting my own parquet floor (first time DIY - please don't judge me too harshly!) and am coming up to the sanding process. The blocks are new, unfinished oak, that I got a great deal on. I've done a reasonable job...

bonding ply to foil insulated board - which adhesive?

Yes, I had originally thought of t&g cladding, that's around a metre high and has a moulding on the top. However, had celotex offcuts going spare and if arranged correctly and foamed together, would add a bit of insulation too. The ply should cover it all up and I've got a cheap fix that should...
