What is this component connecting four CH pipes?

Either mine's plumbed wrong, that diagram is wrong, or I've got a different model, because the cold feed and flow are the other way around on mine..

What is this component connecting four CH pipes?

Trying to understand my current installation before I make some minor changes. There is a component, sort of like a plumbing junction box, which connects four pipes. Could anyone tell me what this is? In the labelled picture attached: 1: Flow from boiler 2: Onto pump, mid-position valve & rest...

    LABC being uncooperative

That was certainly my first port of call, but to be honest I must have rang 30 local, registered electricians, and except for one they all either didn't pick up, didn't do domestic work, or weren't available any time soon. The one that did come out was talking about thousands and thousands of...

    LABC being uncooperative

Fellas, for the sake of preserving an otherwise fruitful thread, please can we leave it and not devolve into semantic arguments.. I will be doing testing before, during, and on completion, but I'm not likely to have access to fully-calibrated, fully-capable testing equipment.. The LABC would...

    LABC being uncooperative

Think you're getting confused... I haven't heard from the LABC since I started the thread.. don't blame you - we have wondered a bit! I didn't consider second hand, will have a look around..

    LABC being uncooperative

The LABC will do a full test, but I wouldn't want to pay their inspection fee just for them to come and and find the polarity is wrong on a circuit or something, so I'll be testing what I can myself.

    LABC being uncooperative

I definitely do care - it's my house and I want the circuits to stay on once I turn them on.. I will be doing testing throughout, and will probably invest a few hundred quid into testing equipment, but something like a multi-function tester would be an unjustifiable expense for me. That will...

    LABC being uncooperative

Yes 3.8 and 3.9 are the sections that informed me when I initially started this thread. In plain English it states A) you have to notify the LABC before work begins B) the LABC (or their contractor) will do I&T during & after the works. I'm inferring from your other replies that you don't think...

    LABC being uncooperative

Well whilst they can't reject work beforehand, they do have a right (an obligation, actually) to inspect it during & afterwards and issue enforcement notices if they don't think it's compliant, so they do have some oversight. I assume they didn't have that ability before 2005, because it wasn't...

    LABC being uncooperative

For what it's worth, the existing CU does already have a 30mA RCD They do... but electrical work is mysteriously absent: https://www.gedling.gov.uk/media/gedlingboroughcouncil/documents/planningbuildingcontrol/BC%20Fees%20April%202023.pdf

My sympathy for them is also ZERO.

    LABC being uncooperative

I believe this could be tested with a decent multimeter? I've got a TN-S system for what it's worth

    LABC being uncooperative

Thanks.. I thought BS7671 covered testing procedures which included the dead & live tests you've mentioned? I don't know how much sympathy I can muster for my LABC... not only are they simply lying about my right to do this work, but they usually contract out the I&T, and they don't need to do...

    LABC being uncooperative

Yep, it's completely paradoxical.. makes me doubly certain that the LABC officer I've spoken to either hasn't read Part P, doesn't understand it, or just wants to keep his seat warm.. I think the only BS7671 test I'll be unable to do is the 'insulation resistance' test, though I'm happy to...
