My terminolgy is probably poor but I beleive it's customary to slip a brown sleeve over the blue wire returning from a switch to a junction box as it has become a switched live. I was wondering how this looks in a looped in switch when the switch essentially doubles as the junction box. The...
Hi, Can anyone tell me if I need brown sleeving on any of the neutrals at a looped in switch connected for oneway use. This seems a little pointless as they are all bunched together in a terminal block, but thought it was worth checking.
Many Thanks.
Having similar problem with new system. Can't get ufh pipes to return heat to manifold. Temp gauges on main valves to/from pump mixer set seem to fluctuate wildly, occasionally flipping entirely. Have tried flushing from boiler end with inlet valve open, return valve closed, filler/drain tap on...
No I didn't understand that either. The justification I got was to protect it from moisture (inside the meter box?) and the risk of that entering the fuse unit where the cables go in and out. Also to provide a housing to terminate the shielding to, which I guess is then connected to the earth...
Hi,
I have a Self build project nearing completion. First fix electrics was completed by an electrician who is no longer available. I have had quotes from two different electricians to do the second fix which includes connecting consumer unit in garage to meter box in kiosk outside over 3m...
300mm seems like a good place to start. Should this be increased if layed across driveway/parking area.
With regard to the 1:40 gradient, I was advised to keep it between 1:80 and 1:110 and that if I go any steeper I run the risk of liquids escaping too fast leaving the solids behind...
Assume you mean hook up the commons. Image editted. Thanks
Does this mean the rest looks ok. Nothing I can do about where the cables run to and from, but can you see anything else in how I've wired the sockets?
I'll certainly give it a go, but as RF Lighting pointed out I'm not sure I'ld describe myself as an experienced electrician.
Time to hit the bottle and forget about it for now.
Thanks again.
All 25mm back boxes I'm affraid. Might have to hack the 4 switch out and replace the box, but a shame to mess up my new plastering. Think I'll get away with the others. cheers
