Running cables before installing house alarm

'Hoover' I will PM you. Thanks. I didn't get a demonstration of the system. As for a PIR in the bathroom, the reason I was putting one in there is because this room is at the rear of the house and there is an extension with a low slopping roof which means anyone can walk straight up to the...

Running cables before installing house alarm

The detectors are optical and heat multisensory.. the first one in the link above. I thought these were ideal for the kitchen??? And now I need a sounder? I should only need one as the 2nd bedroom wont be a bedroom, just a study. I wondered where the noise was going to come from. Originally...

Running cables before installing house alarm

Hi, I have a Texecom Veritas Excel alarm system. This includes 6 PIRs, which will all be in separate rooms except the main room where there will be 2. One at each end of the room. There is also a remote key pad, a bell box outside, battery back up and also 3 smoke detectors which are to be...

They wouldn't put it in writing would they. But that is what they told me. The same as we had the national grid round who isolated the gas. But the bloke gave me his number, told me how to switch it back on etc and even gave me all the bits out of his van to refit the meter. When the plumber...

No - they said it can be moved, they did not say you can move it. Im sorry I didn't realise that you were listening in on the phone, yes they did say I could move it, that's what I was asking them. I wonder what else you aren't aware of? Lots most likely but a few things I do know, I...

i'd leave the meter where is but its very awkward to read, hence moving it. so I phoned Scottish power and spoke to their dept that deals with this type of thing. exact words were you shouldn't move it but they don't mind if I do so long as I get my electrician to check it and phone them.

Actually I was unaware of that. Especially as when the electrician first came round to look the place over when we first started, we had talked about moving the consumer unit from its original position and he just mentioned the cost of the tails. The actual mains come in to the house under the...

I had loads of non harmonized wire and it would have saved me a lot of money to use it, after all the original wiring was non harmonized. But as it is a complete rewire I bought all new harmonized to comply with regs and the building inspector. We also have replaced the old fuse box for a new...

Nope the electrician is a friend who is helping me out. The 4mm cable isn't pointless when its a brand new roll that was free. As for no change with a socket in a bathroom from 16th to 17th.. I did my 16th part 1 and we were told no sockets in a bathroom. I think you will find that there is...

Running cables is easy. and I am not about to pay a fortune for some one to do that aspect of the electrics when I can do that myself. That's why I ask the odd question to make sure I get it right because I do not know everything. Hence the question about double pole in the bathroom as I want...

And just because you have a certificate doesn't mean you have a clue how to do something. I did a PAT course and actually know nothing about it because the college were so focused on passes that all we did in reality was go through old exam papers so we knew a million questions off by heart...
