Just installed low voltage lights in one of the bed rooms, is it safe to let the transformers rest on the insalation which is a type of wool material or do I need to screw them to the joist?

I have a home theatre plugged into a socket in my lounge and when someone in the bathroom (which is a few feet away) switches off the extractor fan I get a "thud" come through my sub woofer. Would it be a dodgy light/extractor switch that needs replacing? Or would it likely be something else...
