No, I checked and the setup is the same as the old plumbing ie none dedicated feed from tank. I have noticed however that the water from the taps is VERY hot. Could it be that the shower cannot cope with the high temp of the water and is over compensating with cold? I presume once the boiler...

Sorry Brumylad, did you mean an expansion tank which is normally installed in the loft? If so then no. With a system type boiler I didn't think you needed one?
