Hi Thanks for your reply - Sprokit's hubby here. The pump only comes on for the central heating, not for the water heating. We had a problem a couple of years ago after the CH had been off for the summer (when we used to get reasonably warm weather) in that the CH pump didn't start up...

now you have me confused - as the trouble has only been over the last few months and no central heating involved I just assumed it was the water heating side that was a problem - will get hubby to read your reply when he gets in and see if he can answer that
