Hi
We live in a 1950's semi which had a single storey extension to the ground floor in 1984. The extension extended two rooms (lounge and kitchen, so a party wall, internal wall and external wall).
Recently we noticed a crack in the plaster of the party wall which we hadn't seen before...
Took the motor out and the spindle moves freely.
To do this I obviously cut the power to the valve, pump, boiler and immersion in the loft as well as the programmer which is downstairs with the boiler.
When I switched everything back on, I turned the hot water on (on its own) at the...
Hi
Sorry if this is a bit long winded, but I was wondering if anyone could help with some issues I’m having with my central heating system I’d be very grateful
We have a boiler downstairs (Ideal Classic, ACL Lifestyle LP722 programmer, room stat, TRV’s on all radiators) which heats a...
Update:
I dug out the wiring diagrams for the system and after taking an hour or so to have a good look over the wiring at the junction box and the programmer. Everything seemed to be in place (a couple of bits that I wasn't sure about), so I didn't change anything. The girlfriend was...
Thanks everyone for your input.
In response to D_Hailsham - The boiler was set to 50C this morning before I turned the hot water on. Once I had turned the HW on (with the heating remaining off) I went back into the loft and turned up the cylinder stat, at which point the pump fired up...
Update....
Last night I turned the immersion heater off and by the time we went to bed all of the remaining hot water had gone (taps running cold). I set the HW to come on this morning whilst the heating was off (which it didn't despite the timings and clock being correct?)
When I got up...
Hi all
We moved into a house in the summer and noticed from the get-go that our hot water was scalding hot. I tried turning the thermostat on the cylinder down but it made no difference whatsoever. I've recently discovered that this is due to an immersion heater that appears to have been...
Thanks so much for the quick reply! Because space is an issue we're thinking of making a 40mm deep stud and using 25mm Celotex board. Would it be worth filling the remaining space with another form of insulation?
We've chosen Marmox boards because they're "waterproof" and have inbuilt...
Hi
We have a west-facing bathroom wall which we have taken back to brick. We're confused about the best way to insulate the wall and reduce the risk of damp from the inside (or outside!).
The current plan is to build a stud wall (studs at 300mm intervals), fit Celotex in between the studs...
