I had a similar issue and used a solvent based undercoat prior to overcoat in with Matt emulsion. Worked a treat

Would it be possible to cut into the external clay pipe and put a saddle t coupler onto it and run the soil vent off of that? Then internally just cap off the vent? Thanks in advance
