    13amp spur wired with only 1mm T&E - change to a fused s

Whilst looking at the options of running a new cable to the boiler socket - I have looked in the loft, and there is an obsolete 6mm electric shower cable running to a pull cord switch in the bathroom. (fused by a 30amp fusexat CU) As there is no longer an electric shower, could I simply remove...

    13amp spur wired with only 1mm T&E - change to a fused s

The supply originates from a sockets ring on the bedroom floor - so it is currently fed by a 30amp fused supply from the fuseboard. It is def not from lighting circuit.

    13amp spur wired with only 1mm T&E - change to a fused s

That was fast... I am not entirely sure I follow you, but, can i simply "insert" the 3 Amp Fuse Switched Spur into the circuit by cutting the 1mm T&E cable and slotting the fused spur inbetween, which the means whatever is plugged into the plug socket is limited to 3 amp max current draw?

    13amp spur wired with only 1mm T&E - change to a fused s

Hi, I have been looking at a socket in my loft, which a boiler is plugged into (with a 3 amp fuse fitted to the 3 pin plug). However, the wire supplying the power to the single socket appears to only be 1mm T&E - which I am unsure if this is a high enough rating. To avoid having...

    Washing Machine PAT earthleakage failure

Yep, FWL_Engineer - my mind is 99% of the opinion buy a new one I thought is approp to check that the failure is not one of those 10 pence 5 mins repair type jobs, or even the possibility the PAT test needs a different setting for certain appliances. Whilst I thought the electrician had set...

    Washing Machine PAT earthleakage failure

So, is it probably a completely uneconomical repair to consider (replacement machine shortlisted is £210 delivered similar spec to machine being replaced)? If the appliance was ok for regs 12 yrs ago - would it be unwise to keep (in view of the failure) the machine as a "spare" for my own use...

    Washing Machine PAT earthleakage failure

Hi, I have recently had a safety inspection done, for a house which is to be let. The appliances were tested (fridge, freezer & washing machine) and all were ok - except for the washing machine (12 y/old) where it failed on "earth leakage"? Visually there is nothing wrong with the machine -...

    Vaillant VUW242E - Pump O-Ring weeping

Thanks ChrisR - rather than take a risk with a "slightly wrong" size - do Vaillant actually sell these O-rings as individual parts - and if so what are the part no's? I can imagine the problem occurs often when replacing these parts. I have replaced the DHW Diverter valve - which in turn has...

    Vaillant VUW242E - Pump O-Ring weeping

I am convinced it was a rubber O-Ring on the pump The problem o-ring sits in a circular groove in the pump housing which then mates to the flat brass body of the diverter valve. I was planning to use some Jet Blue (from plumb center a while back) multipurpose sealant on the o-ring surface if it...

    Vaillant VUW242E - Pump O-Ring weeping

Hi, I have just replaced the DHW diverter valve, which involved taking the pump off. It is held by 3 screws, which seal against the valve by 2 o-rings - which are predictably worn. The manual does say to replace these when taking the boiler off- saying they are included with the pump. However...
