Thanks guys, as is probably apparent I'm not a plumber, I hadn't thought of the heat aspect, what happens to that when you select summer heating in other words heating off? an acquaintance of mine suggested that it couldn't be done since the pressure would be dissipated and the boiler would shut...

I have a Vaillant Eco tech Pro 28 and I need to do some work on the heating system, the work will probably take a couple of days, is it possible to drain down the heating system but keep the hot water system running?

Piping a radiator through the top?

I know I'm a couple of years late coming to this thread but I find myself in the same position as the original correspondent. Hopefully all the contributors are still with us and can answer this query. Dan_Robinson came up with the idea that soldering a length of tube to the return union...

    Painting on CH pipe problem

You were right JohnD, I removed the old connector which was leaking cut the pipes both sides back and spliced in a new bit with new connectors, all good now. Sorry about the time it took to respond, we actually have now moved,( not because of the pipe! ) hence the delay in filling this space...

    Painting on CH pipe problem

OK JohnD I'll give it a go, I must confess I am surprised because whjen I had it down to bare metal I left it for a day to see if anything was weeping out of it but nothing showed, however I bow to your greater knowledge. Watch this space for results.

    Painting on CH pipe problem

The paint is emulsion paint, good old magnolia! It's not a leak, I rubbed it back to bare metal following the Brewers recommendation, had it been leaking I'm sure I would have seen it. The stain is green, I would love to upload a picture but I don't know how.

    Painting on CH pipe problem

Hi all, I have a recurring problem with a central heating pipe in a bedroom, when it was painted within a very short time the paint discoloured and started to flake and bubble, I chatted to Brewers staff for help and the chap there recommended rubbing down to bare metal, washing off with meth's...

    Another question on spurs

I would love to have it as a separate circuit but owing to the layout of the house it's not possible, the csu is miles away from the summerhouse and without ripping up newly laid carpets, 'Er indoors would love that!! it can't be done, so it's going to be the way we said ...fcu conduited cable...

    Another question on spurs

Ok I think I understand, on the previous job I used a rcd and a fuse, but I see your point because on the earlier one there was no rcd protection on the mains only a cb, hence on that I used as stated a rcd, armoured cable to a fuse box in the shed, the belt and braces approach again! so on this...
