£180 !!!! jesus can i come service your boiler - there is a sucker born every minute! probably only needed the switch cleaning and adjusting using the nut.
Mama mia
Not quite , if there is no air the pressure will rise to ver 3 bar then the expansion valve will dump the system pressure outside and when the system cools you are left with no pressure in the system which is kind of irritating as you will have to keep represuring it.
I happen to also work for baxi potterton powermax and have come accross this loads of times , the gas air valve as the other engineer says needs tweaking - (best solution is to trash the boiler as all powermax are sh*t and they are an insult to me as an engineer to be forced to work on them)
could be the hw thermistor faulty , you could unplug the lead from the chtg thermistor and plug in the lead from the hw thermistor into the chtg thermistor and see if the water improves , if it does then it is the thermistor, you do not say if the heating is affected?
How old is the boiler, it sounds like it is scaled up or beginning to even boilers that are only a few years old can scale up due to where you live and the quality of the water in the area, you could try bunging it some boiler noise silencer into one of the rads and let it circulate.Could also...
I work for potterton full time and could easily tell you how to do it but would have to agree with the other people that this should not be attempted by the householder only by a qualified heating engineer.
The problem is most trvs are mono directional i..e. they can only be fitted on the flow or the return , you can get bi directional models that make no difference which side of the rad they are fitted to,could also be the ball valve in the loft causing the water hammer i.e. the washer plate loose.
Is the pump running? maybe stuck, is it rectifying after the burner ignites, could be a rectification problem without more info impossible to tell over the net.
My advise is to ditch the boiler as the ariston euro combi is one of the biggest steaming piles of sh** ever made.P.s i have been a heating engineer for 20 years and worked on every make in the book and i refuse to touch ariston boilers!
My god you guys really have not got a clue hehe , i work for potterton , the problem is that the expansion vessel is knackered and because it is not working the pressure will climb to above 3 bar then the expansion valve will open and dump all the system pressure so when it cools down it will...
