    if it is a site halogen was the lamp rated at 240/230v or 110v? in my experience most are 110 and if you supplied 240/230v lamps you would have problems

    could your tell us what numbers are connected to what cables on the contactor and if there was any preconnected cables? it sounds like once the stat energises it the contactor the holding contacts take over to keep it in, some contactors are pre wired .

    The supply is tncs the boiler is 1m from the exterior of the house and the tank is 10m from the boiler with the oil line buried in the ground in ducting.

    A quick question for all the sparks. With an external boiler would you bond the oil service as it dose not enter the property. The pipe work for the central heating and hot water are in copper external to the house but where they enter the property they are converted into an all plastic...

    Might sound obvious but check the leads into the meter are connected correctly as if you have reversed the blue and green you will get this problem.

    If you are using tri iso you should keep downlights a minium 200mm gap as it is combustible.

    I would advise you to install a lintel. All external boxes i have come across have a lintel above but these are generaly installed buy the builders.

    if the pipes are just copper tails supplying the rad from a plastic pipe system you should not earth them as you could introduce a potential when otherwise under fault conditions the rad would not become live.

    Is the thermostat downstairs the only stat in the house ? Do you have thermostatic valves on the radiators to control temperature ,if so this stat might be for frost protection and used to bring on the central heating as an override measure for protection.On the stat it should have different...
