Alternative for Cork Edging on Oak Floor

We have recently laid a floating, glue jointed solid oak floor in our lounge / dining room. Expansion gaps were left around the edges and skirting boards raised to cover the gap. Only gaps that were left uncovered were in front of our chimney breast in the Dining Room and hearth in the lounge...

    Broken Central Heating Pump

Tony, thanks for the reply... I'll check if the pump has seized tonight. Not concerned about cost or doing the job (although i'd obviously prefer not to!) just want to know if there's any use for an extra central heating pump on a combi boiler system? If not it'll just go on ebay after...

    Broken Central Heating Pump

Last night (3.30am) woke up to the radiators sounding like they were about to blow! Nasty noises coming from the airing cupboard and on investigation it looks like the Central Heating Pump has broke. No problems replacing it but we were planning in the next month to change our HW / CH system...

Thermostatic Mixer Shower Installation Question (Connectors)

Well 3/4" is about 20mm so it seems like I need a 3/4" radiator hex key then - time to pay a visit to the shops! Thanks for the help.

Thermostatic Mixer Shower Installation Question (Connectors)

Max size I can find in a normal set is 10mm, obviously not big enough - hence I presumed there must be some other tool in a plumbers kit bag that would do the job of tightening the connector.

Thermostatic Mixer Shower Installation Question (Connectors)

Threaded retainer not supplied but the internal of the long thread do have flat areas that look like they take a very large hex key. I found that a 20mm wood spade drill bit fits neatly but I don't want to try and tighten it with the wrong tool!

Thermostatic Mixer Shower Installation Question (Connectors)

Having problems tightening the long thread straight inlet connector fitting into the wall elbows that I've fitted. See Page 6, Fig 7. http://www.tritonshowers.co.uk/wps/wcm/connect/TritonShowers/resources/file/ebd4710c847d952/2180430B.pdf I can only hand tighten the fittings and don't...

Check Valve on Monobloc Basin Mixer

Thanks for the reply, little confused about the LOW pressure bit. CW is supplied from the water main entering the house in the kitchen where the kitchen sink CW branches off, CW pipe then heads up into the bathroom above and Tees with one branch off to the basin and toilet and one off to supply...

Check Valve on Monobloc Basin Mixer

Planning on getting a Monobloc Basin Mixer for our new bathroom. HW from Cylinder, CW from mains. Obviously the CW pressure is far in excess of the cold so presume I need a single check valve on the HW inlet to stop CW entering the HW system. (HW) 15mm pipe ----> Isolation Valve ---->...

    Bathroom UFH

Think it's Buddle wrap with one side covered with Silver Foil. Guessing by silver foil you don't mean the stuff I can get at Tescos, I need something a little thicker?

    Bathroom UFH

Excellent - thanks for that. Think I'll fill the void with some Polystyrene and then silver foil with the floorboards screwed tightly down. Ok to use this for the silver foil? http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?id=29949&ts=70136

    Bathroom UFH

First of many posts I'm sure but we're looking to put UFH heating into our bathroom. Existing floor is carpet on normal floorboards. We're looking to put something like Devimat UFH system with a vinyl flooring. What I'd prefer to do is not increase the height of the floor too much but...
