    Radiator Recommendations?

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think I'll go for Stelrad and Screwfix appears to do the best prices although they have reduced their range a bit.

    Radiator Recommendations?

I'm planning to replace a couple of basic single radiators with double ones (Type 22) and wondered if anyone can recommend a good brand. The main options seem to be Kudos Premium or Stelrad Accord Compact. Thanks.

Does anyone recognise this type of ball valve please?

As I thought, sadly it wasn't an exact drop in replacement but, no matter, I've made it work. Shame though that it doesn't come with the 1/2" rubber washer that it needs. Most of the other brands seem to include this vital part!

Many thanks to all. Off to Screwfix tomorrow!

Does anyone recognise this type of ball valve please?

Yes, that's what I thought at first but actually, apart from the other design differences, the captive screw on the right hand side is larger on my valve than this one. Perhaps yours is the new version of my one...?

Does anyone recognise this type of ball valve please?

This ball valve has started leaking and, if possible, I'd like to repair it by either replacing the rubber diaphragm, or the whole unit but without replacing the inlet connection (which has a captive screw which connects to the valve). However, although I've searched through many online...

    Chestnut posts and concrete...?

Thanks for your replies. However, because this is a rustic pergola, the wooden posts have to go into the ground, with or without concrete round the base. My query was really about whether Chestnut - a hard wood - will rot faster in concrete than without...?

    Chestnut posts and concrete...?

We're re-placing a garden pergola made of wood which has seen better days. We were advised to use Chestnut poles for the vertical posts as they last longer than other types of wood - so have bought a set of these together with the appropriate number of bags of PostCrete. However, we've now been...

    LED replacement bulbs too dim

Never edited, always parallel (as, of course, series would not work!).

    LED replacement bulbs too dim

No, not running via a dimmer switch (these LEDs are not dimmable). I suggested 2w since, as the other LEDs are ok, perhaps it only needs a very slight increase in load (5w to 7w) to stop the flickering on this one? Maybe it will need more? It was just an idea! I'll give it a try when I have a...

    LED replacement bulbs too dim

Just a final thought about the remaining flickering light... Would an alternative to 333rocky333's suggestion of the constant voltage driver (see above) be to simply add a small resistive load in parallel with the LED - say, a 5w car bulb (which could be concealed in the ceiling)? It shouldn't...

333rocky333 - thanks for that suggestion.

    LED replacement bulbs too dim

Thought I should conclude this thread by saying what the outcome was. After seemingly trying every MR16 LED available, I finally found that these were an excellent substitute www.screwfix.com/p/lap-mr16-led-lamps-gu5-3-345lm-4-5w-5-pack/6917p (and only just over £2 each!). They may only be...

    LED replacement bulbs too dim

Having tried virtually all the MR16 LED options from Screwfix and Tool Station, I finally found a Sylvania LED 7.5w 3000k 460lm, with internal reflector, that is bright and a pretty good match with my halogens - and would be totally acceptable if it didn't flicker! Arrrgh! So, now I know what...

    LED replacement bulbs too dim

Not absolutely sure but they were installed about 8 years ago so think they are probably traditional transformers.
