What are these RJ45 sockets for?

If there was never Internet at the house then unlikely to be RJ45 ports, unless the house was refurbished and they put RJ45 ports in. You would however find a patch panel somewhere where all these RJ45 ports go back to, which would then have a switch and connect back to the router.

Are you a good at parking?

I'd much rather park slightly further away than faff around trying to get into a space between other cars. Plus then I'm less likely to get someone banging their car door in to mine.

Time to see the light ? ( wifi passwords at risk )

This is all down to many gadgets or unbranded smart gadgets that often come from China. They will have rarely updated or old firmware which means they could have holes and be exploited. I recommend that if you have any gadgets that might not be 100% up to date or able to get the latest security...

How to wire PIR to my outside lights

Thankyou for helping me make sense of this. I will give it a go later this week.

How to wire PIR to my outside lights

Thankyou for your reply. There is currently a switch which served an old porch light. That light is no longer there and the mains I refer to is coming from the switch. So if I get this right, my mains cable (from the switch) can go into the PIR's Live and Neutral. Then I just need the Neutral...

How to wire PIR to my outside lights

Hi everyone, So I've ordered a junction box to link up my two outside lights I've purchased. See photo attached. Now I've also bought a PIR sensor. What is the best way to wire it all up with the minimum of cables having to be routed everywhere. Ideally I'd like to go from my Mains into the...

    Junction box

Thankyou for your reply. The Switch location is further away so didnt want two cables running back to the switch. My plan was one cable from mains in to switch then out from switch to a central location junction box and then to the two lights. Wondered what junction box thing I'd need.

    Junction box

Hi everyone, I've got two new wall lights to put at the front of the house. I want them to go back to a switch I've got in the garage. that used to go to a lantern in the porch. My issue is what is the thing I need to connect the two lights up? As in a sort of "T shape" 2 into 1 junction...

What’s everyone doing for a holiday this year ?

Got back from my holiday to Brittany. Driving in France is absolutely wonderful, open roads, no problems. Got back to the UK to find half my junctions closed, diversions, and chaos on the roads!

    HIKVision or Reolink

Hikvisions app "HikConnect" is great. I find HikVisions cameras do a good job. Just stick whatever you choose on a Guest network ( Isolated VLAN) as all these devices are known to "talk" or have back doors.

Cat 6 and Wireless Access Points

If not possible to do ducting then in that case get outdoor rated Ethernet cable.

Cat 6 and Wireless Access Points

I would put a Gigabit switch in the kitchen. Ideally if using CAT7 then you'd want the rest of the cabling (Which is currently CAT5) to also be CAT7 for optimal speeds. Then from the switch have a hard wired CAT7 connection going to the new office, with the cable underground in ducting.

Photopea is basically Photoshop for free

If you like all the features of Photoshop but for free then PhotoPea is good at that.
