As the title states, anyone got a garden vac?

Recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Try before you buy if you possibly can.....I have a Ryobi machine and apart from being as noisy as hell, the vac bag is so heavy when full of wet leaves etc it's almost impossible to cart around! The bag also drips dirty water, naturally enough.
It's probably the only machine I have that I don't use......instead I use a Stihl leaf blower and a shovel.
Only my opinion though!

As john says people think they are going to be brilliant and are always disappointed. Blowing into a pile and picking up is far quicker. They are only useful for gathering up the last few on windy days.

If you have a large area and its all levelish a billygoat type are passable but even they are not that great.

Thanks but the primary objective is not leaves. Hence why I asked about a vac and not a blower. Whilst I appreciate most (if not all?) are dual purpose, I was specifically interested in the vac side.

Guess my workshop henry will have to do...

Most machines have a mulching fan that chops up the debris before blowing it into the bag......fine for thin or rotten twigs but nothing else really.
What are you attempting to pick up?

Thanks BM - I am aware of how some of them operate with a mulching fan.

I have a severe pine needle problem which is a PITA hence the question.

The garden vac will do your pine needles but only when they are dry, really.....
I tend to scoop them up with the mower!

Thanks BM. Issue is that I have several very tall pine trees situated in my neighbour's garden (just over the fence) but which have grown considerably over my garden. I have begun the process of cutting them back where they grow over my land but they are VERY tall and I will only be able to cut back the first 20 feet or so. The end result is that my path, shed and everything else gets covered in small twigs and pine needles all year round.

My long-term plan is a deck at the back with a new large shed/workshop and a pent roof. However, I anticipate I will still have issues with the pine detritus especially in windy weather.

I could literally spend 24/7 with a brush and dustpan clearing them up.

Hence why I thought a vac may help.

I can sympathise with that one.....garden pines should be pruned literally at the stump. PITA they are!
John :)
