The power of propaganda.

I often wonder if the blinkered who are jumping on the refugee/migrant bandwagon will eventually get 'it'?

Will they complain when they can't get little Tarquin into the local school because there are no spaces?
Will they complain when they can't park the Volkswagen anywhere near the high street?
Will they complain when Tarquin grows up and can't find or afford somewhere to live?
Will they complain when their gran has a heart attack but has to spend five hours in an ambulance because there are no beds?

My guess is, they will be the first to complain.....but they still won't make the connection.

I am happy to make those sacrifices if it means saving lives.
I don't believe you.
How old are you?
When you are old, and you're in the situation of 'gran' in Squeaky's post, you might think differently.

Whether you believe me or not is your concern, not mine. I'm 37. How old are you?

Why isn't Israel forced to accept these migrants ?Were it not for their warmongering and meddling (backed up by the US), these people would not be fleeing their country.
you could also mention Saudi Arabia a country which refuses to accept any refugees.

What this kind of reporting demonstrates is the need for a British public funded independent broadcasting entity or corporation to ensure high journalistic standards.

Sigh, if only such a thing could be....

Can such a thing exist in a world full of factions

Israel created ISIS?
People are fleeing Israel?

I thought it was Syria.

I'm 63. The point I am making is that I am unlikely to live for longer than you; quite the opposite, in fact. Therefore, if things continue as they are, you are more likely than me to suffer the consequences of such things as an oversubscribed NHS and especially emergency health care.

Are you saying we should use Saudi Arabia as our moral compass?

Are you saying we should admit millions of economic migrants?

I understand your concerns. However, I feel as a nation we used to be compassionate towards those born into circumstances less desirable than our own. The change from that, to a country which can stand by and watch our fellow man have his life ripped to shreds and simply shrug, is a transition I find hard to bear.

In my opinion, we should be offering refuge to tens of thousands of asylum seekers, not hundreds.... If we want to be 'Great' Britain again.

I recognise I'm in the minority.

No. Are you saying we should watch people die?

The widely held opinion that Saudi Arabia, the biggest of the Gulf nations, hasn't taken in a single refugee may well be incorrect. Nabil Othman, acting regional representative to the Gulf region at the United Nations' refugee agency, UNHCR, told Bloomberg there were 500,000 Syrians in that country. Saudi Arabia, like all of the Gulf states, is not a signatory to the UN refugee convention, so these displaced people are not officially designated as refugees

And..
Lebanon has accepted 1.3 million refugees -- more than a quarter of its
population

They most certainly are not ALL coming to the UK. Can't you lot do any research before making dumb comments and thwanking each other for it.

It's all Merkels fault. She says that Germany will admit all refugees who get there, so the nearly two billion Syrians who live in Turkey (who are now economic migrants) are heading over to Kos in blow-up boats. Just like that idiot who tried it without life jackets for his family and they all drowned. If Germany want all these people then let them put on transport from Turkey.

Yup, some Arab countries have small populations so cannot realistically take many. Lebanon and Jordan have huge Palestinian refugee populations anyway. They could go to Russia ...
