Have a Vaillant ecoTEC plus 618 boiler, wired as S plan, 2 x Honeywell motorised valves, Honeywell ST6400 programmer, Honeywell wiring centre and Salus RT500RF. After the summer found had no CH which I traced to valve head which I changed, worked ok for a few hours and then packed up again, did some basic fault finding using multimeter no voltage going to valve, went back to RF receiver all ok there, checked on CH ON connection on wiring centre have 240v there when calling for heat but do not have 240v on brown wire going away to ch valve which I believe is the switched live from stat on wiring centre could this be a fault on the wiring centre, possibly cracked circuit board as it is intermittent.

Wiring center is usualy just terminal strip. Never seen one cracked before.

Your 240v call for heat, try wiring the brown to the CH zone valve into the same side of the terminal block as each other, making sure that the insulated sleeve of the wire is not getting caught up there.

I think he is talking about the Honeywell wiring centre based on a PCB with terminal screw tags.

Has several wire links to be cut depending on what is fitted to it.

Tony that's right it is the wiring centre that I have and believe it has a PCB which does the connections, will try what ScottishGasMan suggested, new wiring centre is on £13 from my local plumbers merchant. As someone that works for BT for many years I have seen cracked boards causing problems has anyone else had problems with Honeywell wiring centre may give Honeywell a call.

Its pretty old now and I don't know if its still available.

But no one in their right mind working in the industry would want to use one as the standard terminal blocks are easier, cheaper and better.

I have never encountered a failed one.

Connected brown from valve to CH out wire, valve operates ok boiler fires but cannot control temperature via rf room stat see rf stat receiving signals from stat, green led switching on and off but only way to stop is via programmer

Can someone confirm if I connected CH ON wire from programmer to brown wire going to valve that this bypasses the room stat so thats why it didn't turn off using the room stat only by switching it off at programmer, so could the fault be with the Room stat, I have a Salus RT500RF Programmable Thermostat how do I test across contacts is it just a make switch or does it switch a live through to the Programmer. It is fed by 240v and LED work ok i.e. red led shows that there is power and green LED shows that the remote stat is calling for heat.
