well really, it shouldn't be cable issue and it is highly unlikely.
Not up on my scanny faults, have very few of them on my books so not needed to, but here goes.

Power, interference on network/bus, faulty equipment, cables are the usual suspects

Just started again, and if you didn't do the cable last time and nothing else has changed, battery pulling down the system??

Make a note of the solution next time, but if your anything like me, make sure you can find your note, working on something I am unlikely to forget or cant be erased so easily.

Sorted I think ! Dry joint on pcb keypad block ---- re soldered pins .... Fingers crossed !

faulty equipment dry joints , pour some water on it to get it wet....lol (those reading it please don't do it joke).

I don't carry a soldering iron and desolder kit, if I am sat at a dedicated bench no issues but in the field not for me.

Had a Sony TV and Video unit top end at the time but suffered from dry joints a lot, real pain.

Freeze spray works ! Had a boiler that they said needed a new pcb .... A quick spray and " how many cracked dry joints ! " out with the soldering iron and bingo was still working fine until we moved 2 years later
