Regards this picture. See the 2 wooden beemy things (?). Am i able to cut the one on the right to expand the loft hatch as atm its teeny tiny.

Also. Am i right in thinking you can get a loft hatch kit which has the hole the trapdoor and the architrive (or plastic probs) all with it to simply slot in and secure into correct size?

Cheers again!!

Sure someone with more knowledge than me will come along, but I imagine you could with double trimmers put in.

yes you can , you would then need to replace the trimmer connecting the two "beemy things" with one that spans from the one to the left to the next one along to the right and nail through it to hold up the one you have cut through. No need to double up for a loft hatch. do the same for the other side of the hatch. and then put another trimmer between your new pieces at the relevant opening size.

what i would do is put a temporary wooden support, a 2x4 or bigger spanning three of the joists, one on each side of the soon to be hole, with the one your going to cut in the middle. screw them down into the 3 joists on both side of the loft hole, then you can cut the centre one and it wont droop and shouldnt move.

you can then build your hole around your new loft hatch and make it stronger and remove them when its all strong again
