When the tree bough nips the blade it usually stops the chain rotating - that's on the smaller saws anyway.
I look after a Stihl 800 series for a professional logger......that has a 4' bar and its bloody terrifying.

used one for years... never had a problem

seriously... most dangerous tool I have ever used. had a few close shaves. not for the faint hearted or confident amateurs

How much is the hire, if it's a simple fell in one go, you could probably get someone in for not a lot more and he probably wouldn't put the tree through your greenhouse
