read through the thread before tryimg to look clever abive is a loft easier to lift a carpet than a floor board numbskull


So you have fixings showing through your carpet or laminate from the room above ? Would love to see state of your gaff.......?
If op knew where the fixings for the floorboards were they wouldn't have a problem...

Well thanks to everyone's advice the pole is up! And more importantly so is the ceiling still Checked under the floorboards and they were 22 inches apart and running the opposite direction to which I thought. Used the magnet to pin point one of the definite beams, measured over to where I needed then put a hole through with a screw driver just to make sure. Did the whole knock knock thing again and can hear a bit of a difference but wouldn't have been confident using that method alone.
Dave - There's no springs involved in the pole. You have to check it before you use it and every 30 min while using to make sure it doesn't need tightening. Can be used by people up to 18stone and I'm nowhere near that
