I love to know more about SEO too. My friends telling me that I have to engage in SEO if I am planning to start a website. Maybe soon, or if I got my new website live then I will start my research Sponsored Links

OK what is SEO? I have a few websites and they all have HTML and Java Script but never heard of SEO.
I think I have found it? Is it Search Engine Optimization? I am old school still use Meta tags and index files.
I have found the web site provider is more important than the use of meta tags and the like. I found with talktalk my pages were soon found, but with the free web hosting sites like freeiz the google search rarely found the page unless linked to with the talktalk site.
My friend paid for a 1&1 site and that was very good at being found. It's not the pages which count it all down to the firm you use to host your site.
With RAYNET they paid for a site with "Simple Site" what a waste of time, it did not even have a UK address, it came up as a Scandinavian web site. Also it did not allow you to change the meta data.

It is hard for me to explain what Search Engine Optimizations is, as i am not the best at it, but basically you will try to get someones website to the top of the google (or other search engine's) page. That is the best i can explain it, without going to far in.
I've actually found the opposite. The reason your sites hosted on a large provider get found easier, is that there are more inward links to those providers. This is what drives the Google engine. That and a combination of uniqueness. That's the other thing that Google excels at. I have a web site called REALLYREALLYRANDOM that's a perverse interest of mine (to do with random number generators before you get excited). If you do the search for "REALLYREALLYRANDOM" without any spaces, it's #1 on Google, Yahoo and Bing. Not bad. Do you know what that would cost from a SEO company? No optimisation whatsoever.
And if you want to see uniqueness, Google "Paul Uszak". All those hits are me. It's a little scary as posting under my own name means everyone on the planet can find me and know's what I think. All my employers will now know that I've been abducted by a UFO, hate Javascript and vote for the Monster Raving Looney Party. Actually, I might have a stalker by the window right now. Maybe I should get an alarm...
SEO is largely a myth, a waste of money and just gets you what most good search engines do for free.

SEO is mostly about content, content and content. However, you'll get demoted if your English is poor so check your spelling, grammar and punctuation. Also you'll be demoted if you don't have an up-to-date sitemap.xml page* and robots.txt page. It's helpful to give yourself a unique name such as olkispoth (I made that up). If anyone searches for that, they will find only YOU. (Plus this page.)
In my experience, the quickest way to get noticed is to register your sitemap.xml page with Google and others.
