The ties would be located either side of three gables ( the two originals and to an extension ). Some of the old stone work has opened-up in the gables, but...

Alastairreid, hi, thanks for the follow-up. I suspect I'll end up going for a wet verge, ie: bedding the tiles on, and if I get 30 years without any cracking I'll be more than happy! Cheers again.
