    Plastic welding

Didn't have any luck with the manufacturers website - they don't appear to be too interested in after-sales support. I will try and dig out the paperwork that came with the compressor to see if there are any contact details.

    Plastic welding

Two vanes have broken off the motor fan blade on my air compressor. I tried to glue them back on with a two part epoxy resin adhesive. This appeared to work but the two vanes came off when I ran the motor. Has anybody got any suggestions as to how I might weld these two vanes back on...

Thanks for the info and advice - I'll check out the recommended models and get one on order.

    Recommended Router

With a maximum budget of £100, can anyone recommend a decent router? Typical uses will be for accurate cutting of kitchen worktops, end cladding panels etc. This tool will not get a great deal of use, so I can't justify spending too much. Are there any advantages to buying a 1/2" router for...

    Worktop Mitre

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll try and split the joint using acetone solvent to try and soften the colorfill, loosen the connecting bolts and push up from the bottom as you suggest. I think I'll avoid using biscuits as it seems to me they could be a hinderence in aligning the join...

    Worktop Mitre

I am in the process of fitting a new kitchen. My brother-in-law is helping, and provided useful tools such as a router and worktop mitre jig. The problem I have is that he made the first mitre joint in the worktop but I'm not happy with it - there is a slight gap in the join, and the mating...

    Insulating above ground splash pool

My only concern with using polystyrene is if it breaks and becomes uneven under the pool. I suppose if it's butted together well and the sand is well levelled it should be OK. Worth a try as it's a lot cheaper than celotex.

    Insulating above ground splash pool

Main reason I want to insulate is because I am about to fit a pool heater, and heating costs are vastly reduced if the pool is well insulated. The surface of the pool is insulated with a solar blanket, which also helps the pool absorb some heat from the sun (if we ever get any in the UK)...

    Plumbers & Electricians

Seems like some electricians like to indulge in 'intellectual m*****bation'. I use many different forums for various things, and find them a great source of useful information. Every forum seems to have it's Prima Donnas though, who circulate waiting to prey on the uninformed. To all...

    Insulating above ground splash pool

I have a 12' dia. splash pool, and want to place some insulating material between the pool and the ground. The pool is 32" deep, and holds about 7000 litres of water. Anyone got any ideas for a suitable product to insulate with? I intend to lay down a sand base on top of the soil, followed by...

    Burying SWA Cable

Apart from going the 'overhead' route, is there any way of avoiding having to bury SWA cable 450mm deep? e.g. if the cable were routed through suitable trunking or conduit? Can the cable be routed through trunking/conduit on top of the ground? The cable is to be run along the perimeter of...
