Hi - is it difficult to install a shower tray with a shower mixer ? I am thinking of having one installed after browsing through catalogues this weekend... Are the trays screwed to a wall on one side and are the florboards needing to be cut rhgough to run the wate pipe? About the shower...

thanks mate - i do as you say and just try and change the nut/valve from inside the cistern if it will let me!! otherwise, i will get a new pack of fibre washers (1/2" size correct i believe)? could i even go for a equilibrium type ballvalve valve for a quieter operation? or do these not...

ballvalve in attic is dripping and annoying, so i am going to change it tomorrow - get a replacement from wickes. one q-are the threads standard size? i mean the thread which joins to the tap connector from the rising main-if not, is altering pipework necessary?

ok fair enough - this will be tricky though as you cannot spur off a spur so a new cable will need to be run from the back of a ring main socket :( gonna be a big job :cry:

just turned the stopcock on again and its overflwoing again to outside via the overflow pipe, even with the mixer tap off! ... so must be seal gonne as you said. if i replace the mixer tap should i be looking at a specific type, i have mains pressure going in and low pressure from the hot...

i did read that on the FAQs also, but it has never been a problem before. Also I believe the cold supply must also have a check valve to prevent the possibilty of contaminating the mains water supply. do new mixer taps have double check valves built in? is this easiest solution?
