Screeding and water feed pipe runs

I just spoke with Polypipe and they said polyeurethane type foam is fine used with plastic water pipe, for future reference.

Screeding and water feed pipe runs

Thanks John, I was hoping this would be the case as I assume the expanding foam has similar properties to the pir. My only worry is that an odour or taint might be transfered from the foam into the water feed - what do you think? I assume the foam wouldn't react with and deteriorate the water...

Screeding and water feed pipe runs

Hi, I'm laying PIR insulation boards on my slab in preparation to clip underfloor heating pipes to it. The problem I have is that I have had to cut the boards around my water feed pipes running across the room, so I have channels which I need to fill to prevent the screed cracking when it's...

    Screed perimeter insulation / expansion

I need to lay a screed floor over Xtratherm PIR insulation and UFH and am wondering what perimeter upstand to use. Building control has requested 30mm PIR - will this deal with thermal expansion of the screed or do I need to use an additional expansion foam strip?

    Porcelain tile project

Bit of an update, I'm having trouble removing the black (bitumen?) glue from the concrete that was left by the old vinly tiles - I've read a few topics on the forum relating to this and they seem to say that this should be OK to tile onto with my powdered adhesive. The old vinyl glue is a very...

    Porcelain tile project

Thanks for the reply gcol :) Good steer on the Dunlop adhesive but by the time I've added VAT and delivery to the Trades Direct price for white it's practically at the price I'll be paying for Mapei Keraquick around the corner (£27.99/20kg) ;) I'm aware of the white grout grime issues but we...

    Porcelain tile project

Hi there, newbie here with a few questions about tiling a 15 sq metres of wall & floor surfaces with 300x300x10mm porcelain tiles - not being one to make life easy for myself :) The wall is plastered brick in good condition and painted with emulsion - will the paint need to be removed? I'm...
