    Which water softener??!

Thanks again for all your advice guys-the internet at it's best. I've decided to fit a Permutit PSM65v2, as I believe this will end my scale woes, plus provide other benefits in the long term. Olly.

    Which water softener??!

Thanks MW-i'm currently looking at either the Sentinel Combiguard, or the Cistermiser Combimate, which will be plumbed into the cold water main under the sink-after the drinking and outside tap, as i'm not too fussed about buildup on taps/showerheads-I just want to avoid expensive boiler repair...

    Which water softener??!

I'm just asking for all opinions at the moment to be honest-i've heard of these cartridge filters, I'd just like to know if they are genuinely effective-i'm researching all options at the moment, so all opinions are much appreciated.

    Which water softener??!

Ok thanks Gents-Softus, the Aqua-dial Combi-Care product looks ok, and seems to claim it removes existing scale also. Would this need to be plumbed in to the supply to the boiler-ie just before the boiler, or would it be adequate to fit it onto the 22mm incoming main under the sink? Do these...

    Which water softener??!

Thanks Tony. There is already a magnet conditioner fitted to the incoming water supply to the boiler, however i've been advised that these are not effective. I've had conflicting advice from numerous people, hence I thought i'd ask on here. I'm told that when water is heated up by the boiler...

    Which water softener??!

Hi-I live in a new build property, with a closed, high pressure supply. There are a maximum of 4 of us in our household, and we have a Range powermax boiler-which is as I understand, a type of combi. We live in the Southeast-with a water hardness of 279mg/l CaCO3 *(extremely hard). I am...

Now at my wits end with my Powermax!

I'm not sure Range185-if you haven't been able to tell by now, i'm no plumber-it's probably best that I call one out a.s.a.p, so not to put my colleagues through this any further...

Now at my wits end with my Powermax!

Right-fitted new blender valve over the weekend, and when the heating is on, I have the green "Burner" light on the boiler, and all is good-hot water and pressure are almost back to normal. However, when the heating is off, the hot water is almost non existent, and the pressure is poor. I can't...

Now at my wits end with my Powermax!

Thanks Onetap-no, I haven't got round to it yet. I think the best bet is to get someone out to have a look-by the way, how much is on of those ion-exchange water softeners?

Now at my wits end with my Powermax!

Hi-firstly, thanks for looking. Right, i'll attempt to describe the list of symptoms as accurately as I can: I have a 7 year old Powermax Range 160 combi boiler. I moved into my house in 2007, and a neighbour warned of the problems she had with hers. She's been advised that it is not a boiler...
