Identifying and fixing bypass in concealed shower

Thanks, as I thought. It's why I've done it tonight so I can get to the plumbers first thing in the morning and still return after testing for other parts if the valve replacement doesn't fix the problem. ( who works half days Saturdays nowadays!) I'm desperately hoping it's not the...

Identifying and fixing bypass in concealed shower

Hi. I've got a concealed thermostatic shower unit that has started to suffer from cold water not turning off when it's turned off at the wall. Confirmed its the cold water that is bypassing by turning off the water at the cold water inline isolator and the water stopped leaking from the head...

Pir for long corridor between houses

Thanks for the suggestion, however the instructions say In all cases, locate the Infrascan so that the ‘approach path’ is across the ‘field of view’ and not directly towards the Infrascan' I think I'm sorted with a microwave Doppler sensor, and hoping it doesn't interfere with WiFi took much!

Pir for long corridor between houses

I'm trying to find thea suitable PIR for a 10m long, open topped orridor where I can really only wire at the end of the corridor due to cosmetic reasons. I've had a good look around, but all the pirs I've seen are for crossing beams and provide a wide angle of view, so not sensitive enough for...

UV bulb in a battery-powered lantern? Is this possible?

What exactly do you want it for? Sorry to point you at another forum, but budgetlightforum.com might be able to answer you in some detail about doing this type of thing with some very fancy UV LEDs. http://budgetlightforum.com/node/44655 might be a good start, and replace the LEDs they dropped...

YANAT - Wired GSM Alarm system with Wireless capability?

Well, we guessed it was coming. I haven't fitted one yet, and came home today to find someone had tried to break into our garage. Thankfully, they didn't get in, but they damaged lots trying to get in. Bastards

Hi. I've got a leaking box gutter between my roof and conservatory that I want to have a good look at. Unfortunately, the only access to the gutter area is either over the conservatory or over the roof, so I need to walk over the roof to take a look. What is the safe walking weight on a...

Accessing boxed gutter in conservatory from underneath

I'm wanting to see what's going on, hoping that access from underneath will allow me to see the source of the water, and therefore determine which of the 5 joints in the gutter run have failed. However, after a huge downpour yesterday and today, there was no water running in, so not sure if it's...

Euro cylinder in door with screw in from glazed size

Yes, the door has a midrail. The bottom of the eurolock aligns with the top of the rail, so that's a plausible thought. It's a 30 yr old door, and the lock appears to be the original, so they might have drilled for the cross bar with the cylinder in place? The lock appears to work properly...

Euro cylinder in door with screw in from glazed size

Hi. I've just gone to replace what I thought was a standard ferloc 528 and eurolock cylinder on a door (should have been a 20 min task) and found that the euro cylinder will not come out of the door. It appears to totter around the retaining machine screw point though, even though that has...

YANAT - Wired GSM Alarm system with Wireless capability?

Well, I've just had a really big think about this, and worked out the "ideal" vision and the "basic starting point". The vision is 18 zones covering 28 wired sensors, and 3 wireless sensors each in their own zone. The starting point is 3 PIR, 1 DT, and 15 magnetic contacts, nothing remote. I'm...
