    Outside Floodlight Replacement

Well i rang them, explained the situation and they put me through to the appropriate department, although i was surprised at their lack of knowledge. If the lights were existing from 1997 surely they can be replaced when they fail

    Outside Floodlight Replacement

The puppy in question is a black lab! I need to know if he has done anything that i need to pick up, if that makes sense as there is another dog in the house and the last thing i want is one of them stepping in anything and coming back in the house.

    Outside Floodlight Replacement

I spoke to the council regarding the replacement of the 2 lamps and they could not care less! Surprised, yes but happy. There has been 500w flood lights there since 1997 so not overly bothered by the council! I will get some petrolium jelly though

    Outside Floodlight Replacement

6A fuse through switch to JB inside garage then splits to feed 2 lamps. Think I will try and fit 2.5 in lamp if possible.

    Outside Floodlight Replacement

Forgot to add that the fuse (6 amp i think) only powers 2 500w lights so that is just over 4 amps which should be fine. If i have to change the 2.5mm cable, is it better to change it all back to the fuse or just to the JB?

    Outside Floodlight Replacement

I already have 2 of the 400w lamps and electricity cost is irrelevant to me. I simply want the garden instantly lit up like a football pitch so i can find the new puppy in the middle of the night! So i should try and get the 2.5mm n the terminal block then?

    Outside Floodlight Replacement

Hi, I am about to replace 2 * 500W flood lights. However, I struggled to find 500W so am stuck with 400W! On opening the box, the instructions request wiring in 1mm cable as opposed 2.5mm, which currently exists. I really do not wish to strip out the 2.5mm and replace with 1mm. E floodlights...

    Floodlight Replacements - Wiring

I tried a 150W years ago and it did not light up the area enough, so replaced all 3 with 500W which did the job.

    Floodlight Replacements - Wiring

I did look at LED but the size for the more powerful ones was excessive.

    Floodlight Replacements - Wiring

Thanks for the reply, I had spotted the 150W limit so rang the council and explained the situation to them and their answer was that they couldn't care less and had no problem with replacing the existing ones with direct 500W ones! I live in the middle of nowhere so no-one likely to...

    Floodlight Replacements - Wiring

Hi, There are currently 3 existing floodlights at the property with 2 being on a detached garage and one on the main property. All 3 being 500W. As it is now difficult to get 500W replacements, I ended up with 400W ones. However, the existing ones are wired in 2.5mm T&E but the new ones...

Adding extra sockets to a ring

Not so easy to add one to the HP EX475, unfortunately

Adding extra sockets to a ring

You don't want to recycle any my way do you? Fair point and I won't be going higher than 1500VA anyway!

Adding extra sockets to a ring

The servers are networked, but my original idea was to only supply UPS power to the servers NOT the Router, Switch etc. in order to minimize cost. In other words, although the Servers are networked, on power failure the network would cease to exist and therefore software scripts become...

Adding extra sockets to a ring

Yes, I believe I'd need to install PowerChute (APC S/W) on the host connected to the UPS and add a script to shutdown the other (using shutdown command). The EX475 do not have a serial port, only USB & Esata

Adding extra sockets to a ring

I thought of putting the 2 PCs on the UPS but as you correctly say I'll need a bigger UPS. I thought of a 1500VA but going up to 2200AV costs considerably more. I nearly bought one off Ebay and thought of replacing the battery but didn't go through with it. Although losing the PCs would...

Adding extra sockets to a ring

The sockets will go at the same level as the existing socket i.e. just above the skirting. If I go down the dado trunking route then I will run it just above desk height for ease of use

Adding extra sockets to a ring

Yes, you are correct I can't count it will be 5 double sockets! I have or have access to all the necessary testing equipment and know how to use them As far as chasing out is concerned it would all be low down on the wall and behind desks i.e unseen. The room is painted not wallpapered and...

Adding extra sockets to a ring

An option, assuming the socket under the CU is on the ring! Still need to check that, but it's a sod to get at. need to power everything down and move desk etc. What is RFC?
