I see, I thought it might have been necessary to put it outside of the room because of the permanent live connection to keep the timer on after the fan has been switched off (so to speak). Please remember you are in communication with a novice!

The double pole switch is a wall mounted one, with neon and accessible fuse to have been mounted above the bathroom door.
