The floors have vinyl squares stuck to the underlying concrete and work very well for many years. In a few places the vinyl tile has cracked and bits of the vinyl tile is missing showing the concrete underneath. I want to put a new top of vinyl sheet and would like to fill the small depression...

Advise to construct wooden fence on top wall

Thank you for your comments, I'm still undecided as to what is practicable but they will be useful when we build rest of fence. The problem is we already have fencing built with posts on the wall, it looks realy good but the posts are very loose due to the failed thunderbolts so we've...

Advise to construct wooden fence on top wall

Tha coach bolts sound like a solid answer to holding up posts, its possible and will have to check it out, but it would have been nice to have reliable fittings to hold up a 3x3 post without having to drill through the entire wall.

    Telephones dont always ring

The booster is a BT ren booster model CET-10, made in China. I think I see it now, I can connect the REN booster into the existing extension box socket then hardwire the booster into a new extension box (adjacent to the existing one) and connect the 3 way adapter into that box to increase...

    Garden Fence/Wall building costs

I live in Bristol and have a long garden double brick wall 3 ft high bordering the street. Over the year’s shrubs and tree growth close to the wall has caused some vertical and horizontal cracks mostly by tree trunks pressing the wall. I wanted to raise the wall to at least 6 feet using...

Covert camera and security light with camera

I am looking for a covert camera to take pictures during the day and night, to be fixed to the top of the house to monitor my boundary wall. I wanted something that doesn't look like a camera and definitely do not want it to glow red at night. I understand all IR camera's give a red glow at...

Kitchen and Bathroom Sealant for uPVC window frames?

I've looked at the Bathroom/ Kitchen sealant tube and it doesn't say whether its silicone or acrylic; it does say its a water-based sealant, I don't know if that helps.

Kitchen and Bathroom Sealant for uPVC window frames?

I've just used Bathroom and Kitchen flexible sealant for my uPVC window frames then managed to find Frame sealant and started to use that for the other window. It looks like the Bathroom and Kitchen sealant is much harder and not so easy to apply, and some brands say not to use it for uPVC...

Cat5e RJ45 surface mount on skirting or wall

Thank you for the responses. I didn't intend to run the Cat5e cables to a router, I had hoped to have a bunch of cat5e wall sockets so I could manually select which to connect to the cable modem depending which room I had my laptop. It could be the only option is to direct the cables from...

Cat5e RJ45 surface mount on skirting or wall

I've raised floorboards to run Cat5e cabling to 5 rooms from the vicinity of my broadband cable modem so I can run broadband to any of these rooms. The 5 cables come up through the floorboard close to the modem and I've managed to preserve the Cat5e plugs on each end of the cables. Can...

Hole saws and access under floorboards

Can somebody tell me if a hole saw bit needs special fittings for my rotary drill. The job I have in mind is I have nailed down floorboards in the loft and want to access under some floorboards before refitting the same boards. It seemed a good idea to use my drill with a hole saw to cut about...
