    cross bonding in the bathroom

The reason for cross bonding (equipotential bonding) is to ensure there is no (or minimal) potential difference between any exposed conductive parts of a room. So for example if you touch the hot tap with your left hand (and its somehow got mains voltage on it) then you touch the cold tap...

    Lockable Outside Socket

http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Main_Index/Boxes_and_Enclosures_Index/CM_Metal_Enclosures/index.html You could place an IP65 outdoor socket in that box. Not sure how vandal-proof it is. You would need to ensure that the box is connected to earth via an appropriate method. The whole job...

    Two electric showers.

Gnatic, no offence with the jokes, just an excuse for a bit of a laugh. But seriously it may be wise to have a registered electrician call in to look at it for you. If possible at all then it would need to be on a completely different dedicated circuit but the main point is that your incomming...

    Two electric showers.

To meet disconnection times a claw-hammer may be employed as a protective device provided: 1- it is not the property of the qualified supervisor 2- it has been stolen or borrowed from a non-competent person 3- the breaking capacity is greater than 1MKA 4- the degree of protection offered...

    Two electric showers.

B-A-S, yes thats it... you are in the same street!! My sincere apologies about the loss of power. I'll go right down to the sub-station and use my other cast iron frying pan to replace the 11KV breaker. I'm certain it will be absolutely fine. Though I do need to get back in time to place a...

    SMALL CONSERVATORY LIGHTING

This should be more or less a good fit for the space you have available. Also suggest you choose the energy saving lamp listed below the main light fitting. http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/FL2014SS.html

    Two electric showers.

I fear not. I suspect (unfortunately) its a genuine enquiry... shame the op did not ask before buying the second shower which presumably will be sold on ebay soon. I have a similar question: Just bypassed my service fuse with a cast iron frying pan and joined the red wire and black wire...

    Two electric showers.

Gnatic, just trying to provide you with some good advice and I must say you are literally playing with fire here. Both showers on at the same time will draw approximately 88 amps. In the context of a domestic environment that is a huge amount of current from just two appliances. It is...

Connecting a 230v to a relay for access system

You would need a detector patress box with a relay in it. It secures to the ceiling and the actual detector secures into it. Do you have that? Most of the relays contacts are not rated for much load so I always buffer with a contactor. Are you using a mains interlinked system?

    C & G 2382 (17th edition wiring regs) teach yourself?

One last thing. Make yourself familiar with three phase. Phase rotation, ELI on three phase etc. Even in the domestic world you will come across it quite often. I have just completed a very large residential house which uses all three phases. So you need to make sure you have test...

    C & G 2382 (17th edition wiring regs) teach yourself?

Good, spend some time with a registered domestic sparky. Make yourself very familiar with the BS7671 model electrical installation certificate (EIC), minor works electrical certificate (MWEIC) and periodic inspection report forms. Ask if you can do the test & inspection (under supervision)...

    C & G 2382 (17th edition wiring regs) teach yourself?

Paul96, I am certain that you will pass the exam if you put good effort into it during the training and in your spare time leading up to the exam. The real question that you should ask yourself is: "do I have enough experience to perform domestic electrical design, installation, test &...

    Electrical gremlins...

That MultiMeter will work just fine for general resistance measurements. Does it have a buzzer on it? Not absolutely required but its useful for these sorts of applications because it means you don't have to keep staring at the screen. Looking at the picture of it I see that you have a...

    Electrical gremlins...

Those connections should really be made in a junction box such as an ashley junction box or a wago junction box. The PVC outer sleeve of all fixed wiring must enter the accessory/junction box etc. However, as you say that does not explain the loose connection. My recommendations were based...

    Bus bars and MCBs

For the same reason that you would rewire a perfectly serviceable, correctly wired and properly protected 2.5mm ring final circuit with a 4mm untested, uninspected, unconvential risk. Sounds like the OP shot first then asked questions later, several times :)
