    The ones I have had up until now, have had a screw on holder, and then the bell push slides into the holder (so it is accessible to change the battery)

    How about if I peeled off the worst of the damage, and cover over with thin metal sheet? Then seal around edges?

    I have an old aluminium style double glazed sliding front door. The wood panel on the front has deteriorated over the years and looks very unsightly. Unfortunately I can't afford a new door, but I'd like to make it look better! I think it must be wood veneer, but I'm not sure at this stage...

    Thanks very much noseall. Would you suggest supporting the rail from 2 poles underneath, or supporting them from the shelf above? Also, will the shelf itself have enough support if I were to fix it as per the picture?
