    Dell Latitude E6410 powering off

It could be a thermal issue, either overheating a component or a bond wire or solder joint being cracked by the fall and coming apart as it heats. The issues with the RAM may suggest the slots have suffered cracked joints (there's some leverage there). These would be hard to pin down and fix...

    New Cordless Drill Driver quandry

NiCd can be stored however you like, and memory effect is a non-effect on planet earth. Self-discharge is substantial, however. They're a robust battery technology much hated due to ignorance and cheap chargers (and cheap cells, and cheap packs.. three things which affect li-ion just as badly)...

    LED replacement tubes

So the cheap 'ballast' in one of my lights just went with a decent sized pop, and I'm thinking LED tubes might be worth trying instead of trying to find a replacement which fits. Anyone have any recommendations for decent 2' LED tubes, or comments on the LEDlite ones from TLC, or Auralum...

Lost charger adaptor for battery drill. What's inside them?

    That's not a charger, that's a battery cooker.

Connecting Two Routers To Fibre Modem

If it's showing up on one device, it's dumb, restart it. If more than one, you or someone else has set something to use that SSID.

Connecting Two Routers To Fibre Modem

It supports a 'guest' wireless network which you can schedule. Wired control, if needed, would require some more effort (but is totally doable).

Connecting Two Routers To Fibre Modem

One decent router can do that by itself. Consider replacing the mess with something like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-LINK-TL-WR841N-300Mbps-Wireless-Router/dp/B001FWYGJS At least with those you can type a password in and have it listen to you.

Connecting Two Routers To Fibre Modem

I would strongly advise just dumping the ISP supplied things. What is your use case for two, anyway?

    hard drive or solid state?

Definitely an SSD. You'll never want to go back after using one. No idea about the Windows 10 key, I flat out refuse to be involved with 10. Please show me one single SATA SSD using a single IC. Let's look inside some of the cheapest on the market (chinese crap excluded):

    Gibabit Network

Okay, a continuity tester. Good for verifying you've connected the pairs correctly, otherwise no value. Okay, probably okay cable. At the very least, not the worst going (I have some 'cat5e' here, proudly says so on the jacket! Inside are 8 individual wires, not even the right colours, let...

    Gibabit Network

All one can make without information is assumptions. I would be fascinated to see a detailed analysis of the cable you installed, photos of the installation, crosstalk and return loss figures, pair skew, bit error rates indicating failed transmissions.. Anything at all to indicate you actually...

    Gibabit Network

*sigh* I don't know what cable you bought: I do know most of what's on the market is crap. Almost universally true if it's not a full box from a reputable manufacturer. If you install cat6 to cat5e specs, assuming you don't do damage by stretching it excessively due to attempting to take sharp...

    Gibabit Network

Cat6 is in no way more sensitive than 5e - if you had problems, it's likely due to bad cable (which would never meet cat6 specs!). It also certainly won't be faster than 5e - below 100m, in domestic conditions, both will sustain 1Gbit without any errors. Any issues are caused by installation...

Thermal paste on motherboard chipset heatsink?

Cheaper, thicker (may need spreading in some cases), no thermal cycling required (AS5 needs a few thermal cycles before it performs properly, don't ask me why), very slightly inferior performance. Either works fine. If you don't know which to use, you don't need AS5.
