    Heatmiser UH8 indicator lights

Thanks ...... unfortunately I've had it quite a while and it has worked, it's just tidying up the cable/wiring that caused the breakage.

    Heatmiser UH8 indicator lights

Hi, following the successful installation (debatable considering whats happened) of the UFH system, I have broken a lamp on the circuit board of the Heatmiser UH8 wiring centre while fitting the cover. I think the lamps are neon lamps, can anybody advise the type and where to obtain them. The...

    Birds Mouth on roof rafter

Thanks for getting back to me. As I wrote the question and visualized the measurements I thought that, in fact after posting the question I went and drew it on a piece of paper with the bird mouth at 61mm plumb and then measured the shortest distance from the corner of the birds mouth to the...

    Birds Mouth on roof rafter

Hi, Installing a new roof, the pitch is 35° and the roof rafters are 150mm wide. From what I have read the birds mouth should be 1/3 into the rafter. Does that mean 50mm or 1/3 of what the plumb cut would be 183mm therefore 61mm. Thanks

Pointing Around windows keeps falling out

Hi ajrobb, Thanks for your question. The mortar mix has just been made up of sand and cement. I am unsure of the effect of adding non-hydraulic lime. Hi r896neo, Thanks for your suggestions and questions. As mentioned above the mortar is a sand and cement mix. I don't know what SBR is, can...

Pointing Around windows keeps falling out

Hi Gregers, When I last raked out, just a couple of months ago, I cleared the mortar all the way through and then inserted expanding foam the length of the seam. The following day I did cut back and then repointed. That was in March but over the last days I've noticed some very fine airline...

Pointing Around windows keeps falling out

Hi, I live in a stone built house, built 1998, and the pointing around the windows between the stone Jamb (or is it mullion ?) and the stone block work constantly cracks. I keep raking out and repointing every couple of years but it keeps cracking. What am I doing wrong? The Jambs aren't...

    DIY Loft Conversion

I would think that if your able to install the Telebeam system then fitting a Velux will be within your capabilities. Velux supply comprehensive fitting instructions which you can download from their web site. Also, considering that you will have scaffolding for installing the Telebeams then...

Proposed loft conversion for my house

Hope you don't mind me jumping in here but I have a question with regard to "site splice bolted joints" does the joint have to be supported? The reason for asking is that I am considering a loft conversion but all my internal walls on the 1st floor are stud partitions and therefore none...

    DIY Loft Conversion

A 50% saving is excellent, I certainly hope it works out for you! I received a quote for £11.5K + vat which I thought was one heck of a price, so of course I'm looking for an alternative. Having looked at the Telebeam System it seems that each beam is made up of two 'I' beams (outriggers) that...

    DIY Loft Conversion

I think the Telebeam System is somewhat expensive albeit that it looks simple to install but to date I haven't found a suitable alternative. I note that you are considering aluminium I beams ... .. so similar to the Telebeam system! How do they compare on price? Also have you had these...
