Hi, I had the same problem. I got around this by using a split patress mounted at high level outside the bathroom which contained a fsu and 3 pole fan isolator. I have attached a drawing of what I did.

I agree that you shouldn't attempt this work or throw parts at it, but my problem was the pcb burnt out, but this may not be so in your case.
